COVID-19 and Specialty Consulting Services
- Provide real-time information about reopening plans for Fall 2020
- Develop strategies for adapting to the new college landscape including the effects of virtual and residential programs, the short- and long-term academic impacts, and the changes to the admissions process
- Create and revise standardized testing plans to comply with COVID-19 mandated changes (including SAT, ACT, Subject Tests, and AP tests)
Academic Advising
- Offer high school course suggestions to amplify and strengthen the student’s scholastic transcript
- Recommend extra-curricular activities and suggest further leadership opportunities to expand the student’s resume
Essay Brainstorming and Editing
- Brainstorm and edit the personal statement and supplemental essays
- Create a plan to address essay prompts, maximize profile of student, and align student’s strengths with each school’s programmatic goals
- Determine which essays can be modified for topics shared by multiple schools such as activity essays, and the popular “Why Us”
Create Standardized Testing Plan
- Develop coordinated standardized testing plan including ACT, SAT, Subject Test and AP exams
- Provide guidance on how and when to apply for testing accommodations, if applicable
- Advise how to navigate the process for test-optional schools based on results and academic profile
College List Development
- Create a balanced and customized college list based on students’ needs and goals – includes likely, target and reach schools.
- If applicable, research and explore options for those with learning differences and those who will need continued academic support
Resume and Activity List Guidance
- Assist with resume development and activity list creation
- Recommend community service opportunities, school leadership roles and summer internships and programs to ensure all interests are well represented
Campus Visit Planning and interview preparation
- Instruct students and parents on how to approach college visits, tours, and interviews; intensive interview preparation, detailed list of features to consider while on campus, questions to ask and a template to record observations
- Personal review sessions following visits to best capture reactions and impressions
Application Strategy, Timeline and Review
- Develop a list of all application elements required and a timetable with deadlines for completion
- Provide application management including registration on Common App and Coalition
- Collaborate with student on who, how and when to approach teachers, coaches, and others for letters of recommendation
- Review completed applications and assist with actual application submission process (up to 12 applications)
Decision Strategies and Guidance
- Evaluate offers of admission
- Develop a strategy for waitlist decisions and organize communication plan
- Offer GAP year and deferral options and assist with completing both processes
- Transfer applications
